Storage Heater
• Do you think to use the normal heater is too expensive for the electric charges? Then electric storage heater is a good product for you.
• Electric storage heaters are a less expensive way of using electricity to heat homes than fan heaters, oil filled radiators or radiant electric bar heaters, all of which use on-peak elecrtricity. Storage Heaters use electricity supplied at a cheaper night-time rate (although some tariffs also have a mid-afternoon boost) to store heat in special heat-retaining bricks. These then give out heat slowly and are designed to keep warm for the whole of the following day.
• Redwood slim-line storage heaters have a charge control (or an automatic charge control) which adjusts the amount of the heat stored overnight. An automatic charge control does this by measuring the temperature in the room (or more rarely, outside the house) and if it is milder, stores less heat (saving money in the process). If the storage heater has a manual charge control, you will have to make this adjustment yourself.

• Running costs can be calculated by taking your electricity supplier's cost per kilowatt hour for the first hour (usually about 6p - 7p) and multiplying that by the power output of the heater. The room will be up to your required temperature well before the first hour has passed. Subsequent hours will be costed at 30% less as the thermostat will switch the heater off for part of the time. Of course everyone's conservatory and location is different so these calculations can only be a guide.
